Step 3: Setup your Ad in Bing
Set the final URL: This is the page where your visitors land after clicking on your ad.
Set the Ad URL Options: The tracking template is composed of parameters which will be used by the Bing engine to build your Ad and apply the tracking parameters you wish to track.
About the tracking template / URL options
You can set those options at any level of your Bing Ads account. the higher you set the template, the better as all your ads will inherit the tracking template settings.
Yet, if you want to keep your options open, you can create settings for specific types of campaigns. For instance, if you want to directly send traffic to the affiliate offers (explanations below).
When your ad will load on the search results, the Bing engine will take your final URL and recompose your URL according to your tracking template and the auto-tagging settings. (below you will find more information about auto-tagging)
When testing the tracking template, you will see the results such as the illustration below.
More information about Auto-tagging
What it is: Bing Ads automatically adds several types of UTM (urchin tracking module) tags to the final URLs of your text ads, keywords, Bing Shopping Campaigns, Image Extensions, and Sitelink Extensions. Bing Ads adds these UTM tags: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term.
What you need to know:
- You can choose to keep your existing UTM tags, in which case, we only append the UTM tags that aren't included with your final URLs. Or you can choose to have Bing Ads replace all of your existing tags with new UTM tags.
- Auto-tags are applied to text ads, keywords, Bing Shopping Campaigns, Image Extensions, Sitelink Extensions, and dynamic search ads.
How does TrackingDesk tracks those campaigns:
Because you have set your organic tracking script on the landing page, your visitors will be tracked, together with their click data.
