What is Zapier
Zapier is an online automation tool that connects your favorite apps, such as Facebook Ads, Drip, Mailchimp, TrackingDesk and over 1,000 more. You can connect two or more apps to automate repetitive tasks without coding or relying on developers to build the integration. Move info between your web apps automatically, so you can focus on your most important work. It's easy enough that anyone can build their own app workflows with just a few clicks.
Why we developped our integration with Zapier?
Given the variety of business apps, it is almost impossible to have a native integration and builtin workflow with each of those applications. That's why, integrating with a connector like Zapier made a lot of sense for us.
The initial results of this integration are outstanding, and clearly it helps marketers gain more insights and achieve more and better campaign performances.
The Zapier Concepts you must acquire
A Zap is an automated workflow between your apps. For example, you may have a Zap that sends conversion data from a Google Adwords Traffic Source for the campaign "Dating UK" to a Google Spreadsheet.
Zaps consist of at least two parts: a Trigger and one or more Actions.
The TrackingDesk Trigger is the conversion event in TrackingDesk that starts the Zap. Once you set up a Zap, Zapier will monitor TrackingDesk for that event. For the "Conversion Event from Traffic Source Google AdWords" example, you can receive a lot of conversions through your AdWords Traffic Source, but the Zap is not triggered until a conversion event is from the Dating UK Campaign.
The Action is the event that completes the Zap. For the TrackingDesk to Google Sheet example, the action is adding a row to a Google spreadsheet.
Note that you can have multistep Zaps with very complex flows, where you will be able to filter certain data, or stop the flow according to some filters or conditions, format the data according to certain encoding.
Search / Find:
The Search / Find is an intermediary step that allows you to search for a specific event_id in your TrackingDesk account, so that you can run an Action step.
Our zapier integration includes:
- Trigger: When a conversion is recorded in TrackingDesk
- Action: Sends a conversion to TrackingDesk
- Search: Search for a specific event_id in TrackingDesk
